Instructions to Install MRJ Plugin

General

The MRJ plugin enables Netscape 4.7x on Mac OS classics (8.6 - 9.x) to use the Mac OS Runtime for Java (MRJ) to run applets.


Installation process:

	1) Hold down the Option key on your keyboard and click here to download MRJ Plug-in. You can download it from Mozilla's MRJ Plugin site as well. By selecting "Save this Link as...", save the file `MRJPlugin.sit.hqx` to a folder on your local drive. (e.g. You can create a new folder called "Download") Important: DO NOT save this file on your Desktop. 2) Double-click the file `MRJPlugin.sit.hqx` in the folder. The file should be automatically unstuffed as the folder `MRJPlugin`, the file `MRJPlugin.sit` and file `MRJPlugin.sit.hqx` on the Desktop. 3) Open the `MRJPlugin` folder, move the files `MRJPlugin(4.X)` and `MRJPlugin.jar` from the folder Plugin for Netscape 4.76 >> --> Plugin-ins to your Netscape 4.x's Plug-ins folder. 4) Restart the browser. The file `MRJPlugin.sit.hqx` disappears from the Desktop. 5) On the browser menu, select Edit >> Preferences... and highlight the Advanced label in the left panel. Locate the checkbox marked Use Java Plug-in or Enable MRJ Plug-in and make sure it is checked. Click OK button. 6) You can now drag the folder `MRJPlugin` and file `MRJPlugin.sit` on the Desktop to the Trash can. Click the Trash can, then select Special on the menu, click "Empty Trash...". 6) Reload the browser.
